SEL Activities

At the core of DHIFI is the dedication we have to inclusion workshops for schools. This includes giving younger individuals instruction regarding emotional intelligence, goal-setting, empathy, relationship-building, and making better choices. We magnify the impact of SEL at DHIFI by encouraging learners to celebrate their individualism, supported by educational offerings that emphasize expanding the reach of SEL, encouraging students to feel pride when it comes to their individuality, supported by endeavors that include:

  • Narrative exchange: Students bolster their self-confidence and break down social boundaries that commonly produce bullying, by sharing the stories of their own lives.
  • Highlighting individuality: Our teachings confirm that unique characteristics are valuable assets, not disadvantages.

We champion the championing yourself an others and others and foster respect for individuals from different walks of life, ensuring everybody knows they have a place, no matter the differences they have.

SEL Activities For The Classroom

At Don’t Hide It Flaunt It, we have also created the Project Flaunt Hub, an online interactive platform for SEL activities for kids . We believe students can be empowered and learn to accept themselves by fostering more inclusive environments and celebrating the things that make us unique. Building confidence and empathy among peers is the objective of this initiative, which is capable of being achieved by encouraging students to flaunt their unique qualities and experiences. With social-emotional learning (SEL) and inclusion being strongly emphasized, the various activities and resources offered in this curriculum are designed for integration into school curricula. To create a understanding and nurturing community where every student feels valued and accepted, schools should consider implementing these activities. Bullying Awareness Workshops For Military Families

Why choose DHIFI for disability acceptance curriculum for the workplace? Launched by Meg Zucker, DHIFI is a nonprofit that originated from an experience that’s deeply personal and champions self-acceptance. Utilizing their family’s collective experiences with conspicuous differences, Meg and her husband-who share a rare genetic condition-have inspired DHIFI to grow into a community where sharing differences is the norm. DHIFI began as the seed of an idea and has since blossomed into a vibrant community, where educational institutions and families are encouraged to celebrate their differences, transforming potential barriers into opportunities for empowerment. Testimonials

During our 2019 annual President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) Symposium, Meg gave an impressionable presentation titled “What You Think of Me is None of My Business: Embracing Your Superpower” which embodied our theme of PCCW Celebrates One Cornell: Diversity and Inclusion.” Not only was Meg’s presentation insightful, thoughtful and impactful, but she captivated the audience. Sharing stories about those who go through life with visible and invisible differences made us aware that we all face difficulties and challenges in many ways, but together, through education and awareness, we can be compassionate, loving and caring to everyone, no matter the trials and tribulations ahead.

When the U.S. Embassy in Israel hosted Meg Zucker as a Distinguished American Speaker in 2015, the audiences she spoke and met with were deeply inspired by her personal story, her effective advocacy, and the early success of Don’t Hide It, Flaunt It.  Her appearance made a huge impact with advocates for inclusion and acceptance which still resonates today with those who met her.

Daniel Shapiro

former U.S. Ambassador to Israel

Meg is an energetic and engaging speaker who inspires all who meet her with her life story of growing up with a blatant physical difference and parenting kids who share her difference.   Her message of “the things that make me different make me, me” is heartfelt and impactful and resonates with audiences of all ages and backgrounds.  Meg’s mission of building acceptance, tolerance, and empathy is more important now than ever before.  Everyone who has the pleasure of hearing Meg’s story and her vision will be better for it.
