At Don’t Hide It, Flaunt It, we advance our cause of inclusion and understanding through inclusion and belonging initiatives for universities. Schools should be places where students not only learn but also feel appreciated, and celebrated for who they are, and this is something we believe in strongly at Don’t Hide It, Flaunt It. Our organization is dedicated to promoting inclusion, providing practical tools to educators to help students connect through social-emotional learning, or SEL activities. Activities like these allow students to thrive by creating an environment that’s inclusive.

Belonging Programs

We strive to make a real difference in the lives of students by offering an inclusion curriculum for educators. Our social-emotional learning, or SEL activities are designed to help students handle emotions, develop healthy relationships, and make thoughtful decisions. A lot of students only get to know each other on the surface, but building deeper connections is so much more important. Giving them the support they need to open up about personal stories is one of the best ways. Helping students view the world through the eyes of someone else through storytelling to help them bond is something we emphasize at Don’t Hide It, Flaunt It. This is an example of the true power of emotional support training.

DHIFI knows how important it is to empower children with disabilities, which is the reason we advance a SEL curriculum for corporations and icebreaker activities for the classroom . When young people with special requirements are empowered, they feel a sense of belonging, which is essential for their progress and confidence. Born with a genetic condition called ectrodactyly, Meg has accepted her individuality and devoted her life to helping others do the same. She has had a legal career that has stretched over decades and has committed herself personally to building understanding and inclusion wherever and whenever possible. These experiences have helped her inspire individuals to recognize the things that make them unique. With her leadership and vision, DHIFI consistently give children and adults alike the inspiration they need to be true to themselves and embrace what makes them special.

During our 2019 annual President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) Symposium, Meg gave an impressionable presentation titled “What You Think of Me is None of My Business: Embracing Your Superpower” which embodied our theme of PCCW Celebrates One Cornell: Diversity and Inclusion.” Not only was Meg’s presentation insightful, thoughtful and impactful, but she captivated the audience. Sharing stories about those who go through life with visible and invisible differences made us aware that we all face difficulties and challenges in many ways, but together, through education and awareness, we can be compassionate, loving and caring to everyone, no matter the trials and tribulations ahead.
