At Don’t Hide It, Flaunt It, we further our cause of acceptance and understanding through disability acceptance programs for summer camps. At Don’t Hide It, Flaunt It, we strongly believe that schools should be places where students don’t just learn but also feel valued, seen, and acknowledged for who they are. As an organization committed to advancing inclusion, we provide educators with practical tools to help students connect with one another through social-emotional learning, or SEL activities. When it comes to creating welcoming environments where each student can thrive, these activities are critical.

Social Emotional Learning Program

By offering inclusion and belonging programs for schools, we can make a real difference in the lives of students. Our social-emotional learning, or SEL activities are designed to help students manage emotions, build healthy relationships, and make responsible choices. While a lot of students get to know each other on the surface during school, they may need some guidance to truly connect on a level that’s deeper. There’s a large number of ways to achieve this, like discussing personal stories. We focus on using storytelling as a way for students to bond at Don’t Hide It, Flaunt It. This way they can view the world through the eyes of someone else. This is an example of the true power of emotional support training.

A Belonging Curriculum

DHIFI knows how important it is to empower children with disabilities, which is why we’re a proponent of social emotional learning program for students and self acceptance activities for elementary school . When children with disabilities are empowered, they get a feeling of inclusion, which is essential for their growth and confidence. We aim to help these children fulfill their full capability by acknowledging their distinct talents and providing chances to showcase their capabilities. With her vision and leadership, DHIFI keeps give children and adults alike the inspiration they need to embrace their true selves and accept what makes them special.

The Project Flaunt Hub offers participants the chance to showcase their individuality through photos, stories, or artwork. During our 2019 annual President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) Symposium, Meg gave an impressionable presentation titled “What You Think of Me is None of My Business: Embracing Your Superpower” which embodied our theme of PCCW Celebrates One Cornell: Diversity and Inclusion.” Not only was Meg’s presentation insightful, thoughtful and impactful, but she captivated the audience. Sharing stories about those who go through life with visible and invisible differences made us aware that we all face difficulties and challenges in many ways, but together, through education and awareness, we can be compassionate, loving and caring to everyone, no matter the trials and tribulations ahead.
