Learn More About The Benefits of an Inclusion Curriculum for Students

Fostering acceptance and tolerance with a SEL curriculum for students is what we’re all about at DHIFI. Every child’s individuality is something that should be celebrated, and this is something we believe in strongly at DHIFI. Our mission is to give children and adolescents the confidence they need to embrace their individuality and stand proudly with confidence. The work we do helps young people develop into compassionate and confident individuals. We work on developing initiatives for an array of institutions, including schools, higher education centers, local communities and businesses.

Belonging Activities

At the heart of DHIFI is the dedication we have to inclusivity programs for students. This entails giving younger individuals instruction regarding emotional intelligence, goal-setting, relationship-building, empathy, and wise decision-making. We amplify SEL’s impact at DHIFI by encouraging learners to celebrate the things that make them unique, supported by offerings for education that emphasize increasing SEL’s reach, inspiring students to feel pride when it comes to their uniqueness, supported by initiatives that include:

  • Narrative exchange: Students bolster their self-confidence and dismantle social obstacles that typically produce bullying, by sharing their own life stories.
  • Emphasizing the things that make us unique: We teach that differences are strengths to be valued, not deficits.

Championing self-acceptance and the acceptance of others, encouraging regard for various backgrounds, and guaranteeing a sense of belonging for everyone, regardless of their individuality, are integral parts of our vision.

Testimonials

During our 2019 annual President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) Symposium, Meg gave an impressionable presentation titled “What You Think of Me is None of My Business: Embracing Your Superpower” which embodied our theme of PCCW Celebrates One Cornell: Diversity and Inclusion.” Not only was Meg’s presentation insightful, thoughtful and impactful, but she captivated the audience. Sharing stories about those who go through life with visible and invisible differences made us aware that we all face difficulties and challenges in many ways, but together, through education and awareness, we can be compassionate, loving and caring to everyone, no matter the trials and tribulations ahead.

Meg is an energetic and engaging speaker who inspires all who meet her with her life story of growing up with a blatant physical difference and parenting kids who share her difference.   Her message of “the things that make me different make me, me” is heartfelt and impactful and resonates with audiences of all ages and backgrounds.  Meg’s mission of building acceptance, tolerance, and empathy is more important now than ever before.  Everyone who has the pleasure of hearing Meg’s story and her vision will be better for it.
