The work we do helps young people develop into individuals who are confident and compassionate. To achieve this goal, we provide a inclusion of programs for schools, universities, communities, and corporate settings.

Inclusion Programs

At the core of DHIFI is our dedication to empathy-based initiatives for organizations. This includes giving younger individuals instruction regarding emotional intelligence, goal-setting, relationship-building, empathy, and wise decision-making. At DHIFI, we broaden the scope of SEL by motivating students to embrace their distinctive qualities with programs that highlight individualism.

  • Narrative exchange: Students bolster their self-confidence and break down social obstacles that commonly result in bullying, by sharing the stories of their own lives.
  • Emphasizing uniqueness: We teach that differences are strengths to be valued, not deficits.

As part of our mission, we endorse for self-acceptance and the acceptance of others, foster respect for people from a variety of backgrounds, and make sure everybody feels they belong, regardless of their differences.

Disability Awareness Workshop For Schools

Meg and her husband, both with a unusual genetic condition impacting their limbs, have three children, two of whom inherited the condition, forging a family deeply attuned to the importance of accepting visible differences. DHIFI started as a seed of an idea and in the time that has followed has grown into a vibrant community, where families and educational institutions are encouraged to celebrate their differences, transforming potential barriers into empowering opportunities. This program is designed to help kids and teens build self-confidence, empathy and healthy relationship skills.

We work with community organizations, summer camps, faith-based organizations, and other non-profits.

During our 2019 annual President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) Symposium, Meg gave an impressionable presentation titled “What You Think of Me is None of My Business: Embracing Your Superpower” which embodied our theme of PCCW Celebrates One Cornell: Diversity and Inclusion.” Not only was Meg’s presentation insightful, thoughtful and impactful, but she captivated the audience. Sharing stories about those who go through life with visible and invisible differences made us aware that we all face difficulties and challenges in many ways, but together, through education and awareness, we can be compassionate, loving and caring to everyone, no matter the trials and tribulations ahead.
