We strive to make a real difference in the lives of students by providing social emotional learning activities for students. Students can learn to manage emotions, build healthy relationships, and make responsible choices with our social-emotional learning, or SEL activities. While many students connect with each other on the surface during school, they may need a little guidance to truly connect on a deeper level. Among the best ways to do that is by giving them the support they need to share their personal stories. Helping students view the world through the eyes of someone else through storytelling to help them bond is something we highlight at Don’t Hide It, Flaunt It. This is an example of the true power of SEL programs.

DHIFI knows how important it is to empower children with disabilities, which is why we advance a SEL program for students and icebreaker activities for middle school . She has come to celebrate her uniqueness, being born with a genetic condition called ectrodactyly. Assisting others in doing the same is something she has dedicated her life to. She has used her background to empower individuals to celebrate their uniqueness with a legal career covering decades and a personal commitment to fostering understanding and inclusion. Inspiring children and adults alike to be true to themselves and celebrate what makes them unique is what her vision and leadership is based on.

The Project Flaunt Hub offers participants the chance to showcase their individuality through stories, photos, or artwork. During our 2019 annual President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) Symposium, Meg gave an impressionable presentation titled “What You Think of Me is None of My Business: Embracing Your Superpower” which embodied our theme of PCCW Celebrates One Cornell: Diversity and Inclusion.” Not only was Meg’s presentation insightful, thoughtful and impactful, but she captivated the audience. Sharing stories about those who go through life with visible and invisible differences made us aware that we all face difficulties and challenges in many ways, but together, through education and awareness, we can be compassionate, loving and caring to everyone, no matter the trials and tribulations ahead.
