DHIFI knows how important it is to empower children with disabilities, which is why we’re a proponent of a SEL program for high schools and self acceptance activities for the classroom . Empowering children with disabilities is vital for their development, self-esteem, and feeling of inclusion. We seek to help these children fulfill their full capability by recognizing their individual strengths and providing opportunities to display their skills. Supportive settings and inclusive programs promote resilience and self-respect, enabling children with special needs to excel both in school and socially. She was born with a genetic trait called ectrodactyly and has committed her life to helping others accept their differences the way she has. She has had a legal career that has stretched over decades and has dedicated herself personally to fostering understanding and acceptance wherever and whenever possible. These insights have helped her uplift individuals to recognize the things that make them different. With her leadership and vision, DHIFI keeps give adults and children alike the inspiration they need to live authentically and accept what makes them unique.

Icebreaker Activities For The Classroom

One of our signature initiatives is Project Flaunt, which motivates students and educators alike to celebrate their individual traits and experiences with SEL activity ideas middle school . Through the Project Flaunt Hub, participants are able to submit artwork, stories, or photos that reflect their individuality. This platform enables students to express what makes them different, creating a space where they’re able to embrace their individuality and inspire others to do the same. We work with community organizations, summer camps, faith-based organizations, and other non-profits.

During our 2019 annual President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) Symposium, Meg gave an impressionable presentation titled “What You Think of Me is None of My Business: Embracing Your Superpower” which embodied our theme of PCCW Celebrates One Cornell: Diversity and Inclusion.” Not only was Meg’s presentation insightful, thoughtful and impactful, but she captivated the audience. Sharing stories about those who go through life with visible and invisible differences made us aware that we all face difficulties and challenges in many ways, but together, through education and awareness, we can be compassionate, loving and caring to everyone, no matter the trials and tribulations ahead.
