Social Emotional Learning Curriculum For Summer Camps

At DHIFI, we take a SEL curriculum for schools very seriously. At DHIFI, our belief is that feeling respected and valued is something everybody deserves, which is the reason we strive to create more inclusive spaces through our inclusion programs. We work with schools, community organizations, and businesses to deliver workshops and presentations that highlight the importance of inclusion. A variety of aspects of inclusion are addressed in our programs. This includes both things you can see like physical disabilities and learning disabilities and mental health issues which often go unseen.

Emotional Support Program

We’re committed to providing disability education workshops for organizations at DHIFI. In many educational settings, bullying continues to be a sizeable issue. Our anti-bullying activities aim to combat this problem by promoting empathy and understanding among students. Our aim is fostering a safer and more supportive environment by providing strategies and tools to help students not only recognize but address bullying behavior. When the importance of respecting differences is highlighted, a feeling of responsibility is developed in students that results in them creating a community that’s bully-free. Disability Acceptance Curriculum For Organizations

We advance our mission of belonging initiatives for students in many ways at DHIFI.

  • School Programs: Through our programs for schools, inclusion and SEL education are integrated into the curriculum. Students are engaged in substantive discussions about respect and acceptance through these programs, which include classroom activities, workshops, and assemblies.
  • Community Programs: In addition to schools, we collaborate with community organizations, summer camps, faith-based groups, and other non-profits. Having inclusive communities that celebrate inclusion and promote understanding is the goal of these programs.
  • Corporate Programs: Our goal is to expand our reach to the business sector as well. As part of this goal, Inclusion presentations and training sessions are offered so that more inclusive workspaces can be created by companies. A culture of acceptance and respect among employees is something these programs promote which are tailored to each organization’s specific needs.

At DHIFI, our goal is inspiring individuals to embrace the things that make them unique and encourage the development of a culture of inclusion and empathy. Testimonials

During our 2019 annual President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) Symposium, Meg gave an impressionable presentation titled “What You Think of Me is None of My Business: Embracing Your Superpower” which embodied our theme of PCCW Celebrates One Cornell: Diversity and Inclusion.” Not only was Meg’s presentation insightful, thoughtful and impactful, but she captivated the audience. Sharing stories about those who go through life with visible and invisible differences made us aware that we all face difficulties and challenges in many ways, but together, through education and awareness, we can be compassionate, loving and caring to everyone, no matter the trials and tribulations ahead.

When the U.S. Embassy in Israel hosted Meg Zucker as a Distinguished American Speaker in 2015, the audiences she spoke and met with were deeply inspired by her personal story, her effective advocacy, and the early success of Don’t Hide It, Flaunt It.  Her appearance made a huge impact with advocates for inclusion and acceptance which still resonates today with those who met her.

Daniel Shapiro

former U.S. Ambassador to Israel

Meg is an energetic and engaging speaker who inspires all who meet her with her life story of growing up with a blatant physical difference and parenting kids who share her difference.   Her message of “the things that make me different make me, me” is heartfelt and impactful and resonates with audiences of all ages and backgrounds.  Meg’s mission of building acceptance, tolerance, and empathy is more important now than ever before.  Everyone who has the pleasure of hearing Meg’s story and her vision will be better for it.
