Our organization is dedicated to promoting inclusion, providing practical tools to teachers to help students connect through social-emotional learning, or SEL activities. Our social-emotional learning, or SEL activities are designed to help students handle emotions, build healthy relationships, and make responsible choices. While many students connect with each other on the surface during school, they may require a little guidance to truly connect on a level that’s deeper. Giving them the support they need to open up about personal stories is among the best ways. At Don’t Hide It, Flaunt It, we emphasize using storytelling as a way for students to connect, allowing them to view the world through each other’s eyes. Born with a genetic condition called ectrodactyly, Meg has embraced her individuality and dedicated her life to assisting others in doing the same. With a legal career covering decades and a personal devotion to building understanding and inclusion, she has used her background to inspire individuals to celebrate their differences. Her aspiration and guidance always encourage adults and children alike to be true to themselves and accept what makes them unique.

Disability Acceptance Program

Assisting schools in integrating a SEL program for organizations into their core curriculum is something we’re committed about. Every student should feel comfortable flaunting what makes them unique. Providing educators with the resources and guidance to foster a culture of belonging to make this possible is the goal of our Inclusion programs. Engaging students in important discussions about Inclusion, and inclusion can help them reflect how individual experiences are shaped by factors including race, ability, gender, and background. This is why we encourage these discussions. These conversations are about honoring differences, not just embracing them. Understanding that differences are something to be proud of is part of this program. We hold the belief that everyone’s story deserves to be shared.

Acceptance Activities For The Classroom

One of our signature initiatives is Project Flaunt, which encourages educators and students alike to celebrate their unique traits and experiences with social emotional activities for students . The Project Flaunt Hub offers participants the opportunity to showcase their individuality through photos, stories, or artwork. This platform allows students to express what makes them different, building a space where they’re able to embrace their individuality and motivate others to follow. By expressing these stories, we’re able to help making classrooms places where inclusion is celebrated, not just accepted. Students can discover more about themselves and others while fostering greater inclusion and understanding, making Project Flaunt so much more than only a place for creativity.

This program is designed to help kids and teens build self-confidence, empathy and healthy relationship skills.

We work with community organizations, summer camps, faith-based organizations, and other non-profits.

During our 2019 annual President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) Symposium, Meg gave an impressionable presentation titled “What You Think of Me is None of My Business: Embracing Your Superpower” which embodied our theme of PCCW Celebrates One Cornell: Diversity and Inclusion.” Not only was Meg’s presentation insightful, thoughtful and impactful, but she captivated the audience. Sharing stories about those who go through life with visible and invisible differences made us aware that we all face difficulties and challenges in many ways, but together, through education and awareness, we can be compassionate, loving and caring to everyone, no matter the trials and tribulations ahead.
