At Don’t Hide It, Flaunt It, we strongly believe that schools should be places where students don’t just learn but also feel appreciated, seen, and acknowledged for who they are. As an organization dedicated to advancing inclusion, we offer educators practical tools to assist students connecting with one another through social-emotional learning, or SEL activities. These activities are essential in building welcoming environments where every student is able to succeed.

Inclusion And Belonging Programs

By providing SEL programs for educators, we’re capable of making a real difference in the lives of students. Students are able to benefit from our social-emotional learning, or SEL activities in a variety of ways, such as managing emotions, developing healthy relationships, and making informed choices. Many students only connect with each other on the surface, but going deeper is so much more important. Encouraging them to open up about personal stories is one of the best ways. Encouraging students to view the world through someone else’s eyes through storytelling to enable them to bond is something we highlight at Don’t Hide It, Flaunt It. This is an example of the real power of an inclusion program.

A SEL Curriculum

DHIFI knows how important it is to empower children with disabilities, which is why we’re a proponent of empathy-based workshops for students and SEL activity ideas classroom . When young people with disabilities are empowered, they feel a sense of belonging, which is crucial for their growth and self-esteem. By acknowledging their individual strengths and providing chances to display their talents, we help these young people achieve their full capability. Founder and president of Don’t Hide It, Flaunt It, Meg Zucker is one of inclusion and inclusion’s most dedicated proponents. Born with a genetic condition known as ectrodactyly, Meg has embraced her differences and dedicated her life to assisting others in doing the same. With a legal career spanning decades and a personal devotion to building empathy and inclusion, she has used her insights to inspire individuals to celebrate their uniqueness. Her vision and guidance consistently inspire children and adults alike to be true to themselves and embrace what makes them special.

SEL Activities For Middle School

Get To Know You Activity Ideas For Middle School

To promote welcome activities for the classroom ? Dialogue and self-expression can be promoted in many different ways as part of our program. These activities are secure, structured, and adaptable for any classroom. Prompts for creative writing, art projects, or small group discussions are ways students can form stronger connections with their peers and express their identity. Students are more likely to create meaningful relationships built on understanding and empathy when opportunities are fostered in a supportive environment.

Bullying Awareness Initiatives For Military Families

Together with SEL, helping schools integrate a SEL program for students into their core curriculum is a vital part of our goal. Although a large number of schools offer isolated lessons that incorporate acceptance, we believe it’s important to go further and weave it into the classroom and curriculum as a whole. Our Inclusion programs are focused on supporting educators in building a culture of belonging by providing them with the necessary tools and resources. By equipping educators with the proper resources and guidance that our Inclusion programs provide, we can create a culture of belonging where students are capable of expressing whatever makes them unique with confidence. Engaging students in important discussions about Inclusion, and inclusion can help them reflect how individual experiences are shaped by factors such as ability, race, gender, and background. This is why we urge these discussions. Actively celebrating differences, not just accepting them, is the goal of these conversations. This way, students are able to understand that everyone’s story needs to be shared and appreciated, and that their differences are something to be confident about with these programs.

Acceptance Activities For The Classroom

To promote SEL activity ideas kids is the goal of Project Flaunt, among our signature initiatives. The Project Flaunt Hub offers participants the chance to reflect their individuality through stories, photos, or artwork. We create a safe space for embracing the things that make them distinct and offer them the opportunity to encourage others while they’re at it. We believe that by expressing these stories, classrooms can become places where inclusion is not just acknowledged but celebrated. Students can discover more about themselves and others while promoting greater understanding and inclusion, making Project Flaunt so much more than only a creative outlet.

Don’t Hide It, Flaunt It founder Meg Zucker additionally offers speaking engagements to further our mission. This program is designed to help kids and teens build self-confidence, empathy and healthy relationship skills.

We work with community organizations, summer camps, faith-based organizations, and other non-profits.

During our 2019 annual President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) Symposium, Meg gave an impressionable presentation titled “What You Think of Me is None of My Business: Embracing Your Superpower” which embodied our theme of PCCW Celebrates One Cornell: Diversity and Inclusion.” Not only was Meg’s presentation insightful, thoughtful and impactful, but she captivated the audience. Sharing stories about those who go through life with visible and invisible differences made us aware that we all face difficulties and challenges in many ways, but together, through education and awareness, we can be compassionate, loving and caring to everyone, no matter the trials and tribulations ahead.
