Our goal at DHIFI is encouraging tolerance and acceptance through a SEL program for schools. Each child’s individuality is something to be celebrated, and this is something we believe in wholeheartedly at DHIFI. Giving adolescents and children the confidence they need to embrace their individuality and stand proudly with confidence is our mission at DHIFI. The work we do helps young people grow into individuals who are compassionate and confident. Central to DHIFI’s mission is the advancement of inclusion and belonging initiatives for educators. We focus on enhancing the youth’s abilities for emotional understanding, establishing positive goals, fostering empathic interactions, strengthening relationships, and making informed decisions. At DHIFI, we broaden SEL’s scope by inspiring students to embrace their special qualities with programs that highlight individualism.

  • Story sharing: By sharing the experiences they’ve had with others, students achieve confidence and tackle the barriers that many times lead to bullying.
  • Showcasing uniqueness: Our teachings confirm that unique characteristics are valuable assets, not shortcomings.

During our 2019 annual President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) Symposium, Meg gave an impressionable presentation titled “What You Think of Me is None of My Business: Embracing Your Superpower” which embodied our theme of PCCW Celebrates One Cornell: Diversity and Inclusion.” Not only was Meg’s presentation insightful, thoughtful and impactful, but she captivated the audience. Sharing stories about those who go through life with visible and invisible differences made us aware that we all face difficulties and challenges in many ways, but together, through education and awareness, we can be compassionate, loving and caring to everyone, no matter the trials and tribulations ahead.
