At Don’t Hide It Flaunt It (DHIFI), we believe in the power of accepting uniqueness and nurturing environments where every individual is capable of feeling recognized, valued and heard. Our goal is to promote tolerance, self-confidence and empathy for people of diverse backgrounds through a variety of programs.

A SEL Program

We believe that a SEL curriculum for middle schools can truly make a difference in the world. At the core of DHIFI’s work is Social Emotional Learning. The tools of SEL equip individuals, especially students, with the knowledge to process and control emotions, build interpersonal relationships, and make informed decisions. SEL activities are able to increase awareness of the experiences of others, foster team building and foster better communication. These exercises assist students connect with themselves and others, building the essential social skills required for success, both personally and academically. SEL Activities For Organizations

Together with social emotional learning activities, we also focus on Inclusion activities for educators. Our Inclusion programs are structured to create environments where every individual can feel they belong, no matter their gender, race, background, or abilities. We don’t settle at inclusion; we work to foster inclusion and inclusion where each person can access the same opportunities. Schools, communities, and corporations are all capable of benefitting from our interactive programs, which touch on a wide array of topics.

Bullying Prevention Programs Disability Education Workshop For Educators

Key to our mission at DHIFI is our commitment on disability awareness workshops for schools. A failure in understanding and acceptance of differences is a common cause of bullying. We confront the root causes behind bullying and offer students strategies to take a stand through interactive activities and honest discussions. We highlight the importance of respect, empathy, and kindness, helping students to identify and oppose behaviors of bullying when they’re encountered in their communities. Our programs are focused on more than simply raising awareness. Our goal is for students to become active advocates for meaningful change. SEL Activities For Middle School

Project Flaunt provides acceptance activities for kids that encourage a sense of belonging and connection. We encourage individuals to not only celebrate their differences but to share their stories with others through our distinct initiative, Project Flaunt. Individuals express something distinct about themselves in icebreakers during these activities. Through storytelling, students can explore how their perspectives are shaped by their differences, and individual strengths are often highlighted in group projects. Participants don’t just discover more about each other but additionally develop a deeper awareness for differences within their classroom, at home, and in the larger community through these activities.

This program is designed to help kids and teens build self-confidence, empathy and healthy relationship skills.

Community Programs

We work with community organizations, summer camps, faith-based organizations, and other non-profits.

During our 2019 annual President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) Symposium, Meg gave an impressionable presentation titled “What You Think of Me is None of My Business: Embracing Your Superpower” which embodied our theme of PCCW Celebrates One Cornell: Diversity and Inclusion.” Not only was Meg’s presentation insightful, thoughtful and impactful, but she captivated the audience. Sharing stories about those who go through life with visible and invisible differences made us aware that we all face difficulties and challenges in many ways, but together, through education and awareness, we can be compassionate, loving and caring to everyone, no matter the trials and tribulations ahead.
