A Social Emotional Learning Curriculum

The advancement of an inclusion program for educators is the cornerstone of DHIFI’s mission. We focus on enhancing the youth’s abilities for emotional understanding, establishing beneficial goals, fostering empathic interactions, strengthening relationships, and making informed choices. We amplify the impact of SEL at DHIFI by urging learners to be proud of the things that make them unique, supported by offerings for education that concentrate on expanding SEL’s reach, inspiring students to feel pride when it comes to their uniqueness, supported by initiatives that include:

  • Sharing narratives: Motivating students to tell their stories builds their self-esteem and breaks down the societal constructs that frequently cause bullying.
  • Emphasizing the things that make us unique: We teach that differences are strengths to be proud of, not deficits.

Championing self-acceptance and the acceptance of others, encouraging regard for diverse backgrounds, and guaranteeing a feeling of belonging for everybody, regardless of their uniqueness, are key parts of our goal.

Welcome Activity Ideas For The Classroom

To promote empathy-based activities middle school , Don’t Hide It Flaunt It has additionally created Project Flaunt, an interactive online platform. Project Flaunt strives to empower students through the celebration of differences, promoting self-acceptance, and ensuring school environments are more inclusive. By encouraging students to flaunt their unique qualities and experiences, the initiative seeks to build confidence and empathy among peers. This program is designed to help kids and teens build self-confidence, empathy and healthy relationship skills.

During our 2019 annual President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) Symposium, Meg gave an impressionable presentation titled “What You Think of Me is None of My Business: Embracing Your Superpower” which embodied our theme of PCCW Celebrates One Cornell: Diversity and Inclusion.” Not only was Meg’s presentation insightful, thoughtful and impactful, but she captivated the audience. Sharing stories about those who go through life with visible and invisible differences made us aware that we all face difficulties and challenges in many ways, but together, through education and awareness, we can be compassionate, loving and caring to everyone, no matter the trials and tribulations ahead.
