A Belonging Program

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is at the heart of our efforts. Building empathy, self-confidence, and healthy relationship skills for young people is the objective of our programs. We offer an array of SEL activities customized to foster an inclusive environment in communities, schools, and business settings. These activities encourage students to appreciate and understand their own and others’ distinctive traits, fostering a culture of empathy and acceptance. An Inclusion Program Curriculum For Military Families

At DHIFI, we take social emotional learning activities for educators very seriously. DHIFI’s inclusion programs are designed to create inclusive spaces where everyone feels valued and respected. Many different aspects of inclusion are addressed in our programs. This includes both things you can see like physical disabilities and ones you can’t see including learning disabilities and mental health issues.

We are committed to supplying disability support curriculum for schools at DHIFI. Many have unfortunately experienced the prevalence of bullying in educational settings of all kinds. Our anti-bullying activities aim to fight this issue by promoting empathy and understanding among students. Our aim is to foster an environment that’s safer and more supportive by providing tools and strategies to help students not only recognize but address bullying behavior. Students are helped to develop a sense of responsibility towards creating a bully-free community by highlighting the importance of respecting differences. During our 2019 annual President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) Symposium, Meg gave an impressionable presentation titled “What You Think of Me is None of My Business: Embracing Your Superpower” which embodied our theme of PCCW Celebrates One Cornell: Diversity and Inclusion.” Not only was Meg’s presentation insightful, thoughtful and impactful, but she captivated the audience. Sharing stories about those who go through life with visible and invisible differences made us aware that we all face difficulties and challenges in many ways, but together, through education and awareness, we can be compassionate, loving and caring to everyone, no matter the trials and tribulations ahead.
