Our mission is to promote understanding, acceptance, mutual respect and tolerance for visible and hidden differences through engaging programs and activities.

A Inclusion Curriculum

At the center the work we do at DHIFI is Social Emotional Learning (SEL). Our programs are crafted to help young people develop empathy, self-confidence and healthy relationship skills. We aim to foster inclusive environments in many places, such as schools, communities, and even business settings and offer a variety of SEL activities to achieve this. These activities encourage students to appreciate and understand their own and others’ one of a kind qualities, promoting a culture of empathy and acceptance. Disability Awareness Program For Students

At DHIFI, we’re dedicated to advancing our mission with empathy-based workshops for students in a variety of ways.

  • School Programs: Through our school programs, SEL and inclusion education are integrated into the curriculum. These programs include workshops, classroom activities, and assemblies where students are engaged in meaningful discussions about acceptance and respect.
  • Community Programs: In addition to schools, we work with community organizations, summer camps, faith-based groups, and other non-profits. What these programs work towards is building communities that promote understanding so that inclusion can be celebrated.
  • Corporate Programs: We provide Inclusion, and Belonging presentations and training sessions that assist companies in creating more inclusive workplaces as part of our goal of expanding our reach to the business sector. During our 2019 annual President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) Symposium, Meg gave an impressionable presentation titled “What You Think of Me is None of My Business: Embracing Your Superpower” which embodied our theme of PCCW Celebrates One Cornell: Diversity and Inclusion.” Not only was Meg’s presentation insightful, thoughtful and impactful, but she captivated the audience. Sharing stories about those who go through life with visible and invisible differences made us aware that we all face difficulties and challenges in many ways, but together, through education and awareness, we can be compassionate, loving and caring to everyone, no matter the trials and tribulations ahead.
