An Inclusion Program Program

At the center the work we do at DHIFI is Social Emotional Learning (SEL). Our programs are crafted to help young people build empathy, self-confidence and healthy relationship skills. A variety of SEL activities customized to foster an inclusive environment in communities, and business settings can be found at DHIFI. These activities motivate students to understand and appreciate their own and others’ distinctive characteristics, promoting a culture of empathy and acceptance. Bullying Awareness Initiatives

At DHIFI, we’re dedicated to advancing our mission with disability acceptance curriculum for educators in a variety of ways.

  • School Programs: Our programs for schools are designed to integrate inclusion and SEL education into the curriculum. Students are engaged in substantive discussions concerning acceptance and respect through these programs, which include workshops, classroom activities, and assemblies.
  • Community Programs: Our goal is to extend our reach beyond the classroom by working with community organizations, summer camps, faith-based groups, and other non-profits. What these programs work towards is building communities where understanding is promoted so that inclusion is capable of being celebrated.
  • Corporate Programs: We offer Inclusion presentations and training sessions that assist companies in creating more inclusive workplaces as part of our goal of expanding our reach to the business sector. During our 2019 annual President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) Symposium, Meg gave an impressionable presentation titled “What You Think of Me is None of My Business: Embracing Your Superpower” which embodied our theme of PCCW Celebrates One Cornell: Diversity and Inclusion.” Not only was Meg’s presentation insightful, thoughtful and impactful, but she captivated the audience. Sharing stories about those who go through life with visible and invisible differences made us aware that we all face difficulties and challenges in many ways, but together, through education and awareness, we can be compassionate, loving and caring to everyone, no matter the trials and tribulations ahead.
