Inclusion Activities

Promoting an SEL curriculum is one of the cornerstones of our efforts at DHIFI. Building self-confidence, empathy, and healthy relationship skills for children and teens is the objective of our programs. We offer a variety of SEL activities tailored to foster an inclusive environment in communities, schools, and business settings. Inclusion Programs For Military Families

We take social emotional learning programs for organizations very seriously at DHIFI. Our inclusion programs at DHIFI are designed to create inclusive spaces where everybody feels respected and valued. We work with community organizations, schools, and corporations to deliver workshops and presentations that highlight the importance of inclusion. Many different aspects of inclusion are addressed in our programs. This includes both visible differences like physical disabilities and learning disabilities and mental health issues which often go unseen.

Bullying Prevention Curriculum

We’re committed to providing disability support activities for organizations at DHIFI. A large number of people have unfortunately experienced the prevalence of bullying in educational settings of all kinds. Our anti-bullying activities strive to combat this problem by promoting understanding and empathy among students. Bullying behavior isn’t just capable of being recognized but additionally addressed with the strategies and tools we provide. This helps create an environment that is safer and more supportive. When the importance of respecting differences is emphasized, a feeling of responsibility is developed in students that leads them to create a community that is bully-free. Disability Acceptance Curriculum For Companies

At DHIFI, we advance our mission with disability education initiatives for the workplace in many ways.

  • School Programs: Our programs for schools are designed to integrate SEL and inclusion education into the curriculum. These programs include workshops, classroom activities, and assemblies where students are engaged in meaningful discussions regarding respect and acceptance.
  • Community Programs: Our goal is to extend our reach past the classroom by collaborating with community organizations, summer camps, faith-based groups, and other non-profits. These programs strive to build inclusive communities that promote understanding and celebrate inclusion.
  • Corporate Programs: Our goal is to expand our reach to the business sector as well. To achieve this, Inclusion, and Belonging presentations and training sessions are provided so that more inclusive workspaces can be created by companies. These programs are created to address each organization’s specific needs, promoting a culture among employees that’s based acceptance and respect.

During our 2019 annual President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) Symposium, Meg gave an impressionable presentation titled “What You Think of Me is None of My Business: Embracing Your Superpower” which embodied our theme of PCCW Celebrates One Cornell: Diversity and Inclusion.” Not only was Meg’s presentation insightful, thoughtful and impactful, but she captivated the audience. Sharing stories about those who go through life with visible and invisible differences made us aware that we all face difficulties and challenges in many ways, but together, through education and awareness, we can be compassionate, loving and caring to everyone, no matter the trials and tribulations ahead.
