SEL Programs

Promoting an SEL curriculum is among the cornerstones of our efforts at DHIFI. Developing empathy, self-confidence, and healthy relationship skills for young people is the goal of our programs. A range of SEL activities tailored to foster an inclusive environment in communities, and business settings are capable of being found at DHIFI. To promote a culture of empathy and acceptance, students are encouraged to understand and appreciate the qualities that make themselves and others special with activities like these. Sel Activities For Middle Schools

We take social emotional learning programs for organizations very seriously at DHIFI. At DHIFI, we believe that feeling respected and valued is something everyone deserves, which is the reason we aim to create spaces that are more inclusive through our inclusion programs. We work with schools, community organizations, and corporations to deliver presentations and workshops that highlight the importance of inclusion. Many different aspects of inclusion are addressed in our programs. This includes both visible differences like physical disabilities and mental health issues and learning disabilities which often go unseen.

Bullying Awareness Curriculum

At DHIFI, we are dedicated to offering bullying prevention curriculum for youth groups. Many have unfortunately experienced first-hand the prevalence of bullying in educational settings of all kinds. Our anti-bullying activities strive to combat this problem by promoting empathy and understanding among students. Bullying behavior can be not only recognized but also addressed with the strategies and tools we provide. This helps create an environment that is safer and more supportive. By highlighting the importance of respecting differences, we help students develop a sense of responsibility towards creating a bully-free community. Disability Acceptance Programs

At DHIFI, we advance our mission with disability education programs for organizations in a variety of ways.

  • School Programs: Our programs for schools are designed to integrate SEL and inclusion education into the curriculum. Students are engaged in substantive discussions concerning acceptance and respect through these programs, which include classroom activities, workshops, and assemblies.
  • Community Programs: Our reach extends beyond schools by collaborating with summer camps, community organizations, faith-based groups, and other non-profits. Having inclusive communities where diversity is celebrated and understanding promoted is what these programs work towards.
  • Corporate Programs: Our goal is to expand our reach to the corporate sector as well. As part of this goal, Inclusion, and Belonging presentations and training sessions are offered so that more inclusive workspaces can be created by companies. These programs are tailored to address the specific needs of each organization, promoting a culture among employees that’s based respect and acceptance.

During our 2019 annual President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) Symposium, Meg gave an impressionable presentation titled “What You Think of Me is None of My Business: Embracing Your Superpower” which embodied our theme of PCCW Celebrates One Cornell: Diversity and Inclusion.” Not only was Meg’s presentation insightful, thoughtful and impactful, but she captivated the audience. Sharing stories about those who go through life with visible and invisible differences made us aware that we all face difficulties and challenges in many ways, but together, through education and awareness, we can be compassionate, loving and caring to everyone, no matter the trials and tribulations ahead.
