Through a wide range of programs and activities, tolerance and mutual respect for both seen and unseen differences can be significantly advanced.

Inclusion Programs

Promoting an SEL curriculum is among the cornerstones of our efforts at DHIFI. We have created programs for children and teens to ensure they get the help they require to experience healthy relationships, increased empathy, and a boost to their confidence. We aim to foster inclusive environments in various locations, including communities, schools, and even corporate settings and offer a variety of SEL activities to achieve this. These activities motivate students to understand and appreciate their own and others’ unique characteristics, promoting a culture of empathy and acceptance. Disability Awareness Initiatives For Schools

At DHIFI, we advance our mission with social emotional learning activities for schools in a variety of ways.

  • School Programs: SEL and inclusion education are integrated into the curriculum through our programs for schools. These programs include workshops, classroom activities, and assemblies where students are engaged in meaningful discussions regarding acceptance and respect.
  • Community Programs: Our reach extends beyond schools by working with summer camps, community organizations, faith-based groups, and other non-profits. Having communities that are inclusive where diversity is celebrated and understanding promoted is the goal of these programs.

During our 2019 annual President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) Symposium, Meg gave an impressionable presentation titled “What You Think of Me is None of My Business: Embracing Your Superpower” which embodied our theme of PCCW Celebrates One Cornell: Diversity and Inclusion.” Not only was Meg’s presentation insightful, thoughtful and impactful, but she captivated the audience. Sharing stories about those who go through life with visible and invisible differences made us aware that we all face difficulties and challenges in many ways, but together, through education and awareness, we can be compassionate, loving and caring to everyone, no matter the trials and tribulations ahead.
