Disability Acceptance Initiatives For Companies

At DHIFI, we advance our mission with SEL activities for organizations in a variety of ways.

  • School Programs: Inclusion and SEL education are integrated into the curriculum through our programs for schools. Workshops, classroom activities, and assemblies are just several of the ways students become engaged in meaningful discussions regarding topics including acceptance and respect.
  • Community Programs: Together with schools, we work with summer camps, community organizations, faith-based groups, and other non-profits. Having inclusive communities that celebrate inclusion and promote understanding is the goal of these programs.
  • Corporate Programs: Our goal is to expand our reach to the business sector as well. As part of this goal, Inclusion presentations and training sessions are provided so that more inclusive workspaces are capable of being created by companies. The specific needs of each organization are taken into consideration with these programs. A culture of acceptance and respect among employees is what these programs promote.

During our 2019 annual President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) Symposium, Meg gave an impressionable presentation titled “What You Think of Me is None of My Business: Embracing Your Superpower” which embodied our theme of PCCW Celebrates One Cornell: Diversity and Inclusion.” Not only was Meg’s presentation insightful, thoughtful and impactful, but she captivated the audience. Sharing stories about those who go through life with visible and invisible differences made us aware that we all face difficulties and challenges in many ways, but together, through education and awareness, we can be compassionate, loving and caring to everyone, no matter the trials and tribulations ahead.
