Social Emotional Learning Activities

At the center the work we do at DHIFI is Social Emotional Learning (SEL). Building self-confidence, empathy, and healthy relationship skills for young people is what our programs are all about. At DHIFI, we take inclusion programs for universities very seriously. Everybody deserves to feel respected and valued. Our inclusion programs are crafted to achieve this by creating inclusive spaces. Disability Awareness Curriculum For Schools

At DHIFI, we advance our mission with SEL activities for educators in a variety of ways.

  • School Programs: Our school programs are designed to integrate SEL and inclusion education into the curriculum. These programs include classroom activities, workshops, and assemblies that engage students in substantive discussions about respect and acceptance.
  • Community Programs: Our reach extends beyond schools by working with summer camps, community organizations, faith-based groups, and other non-profits. The main objective of these programs is building communities where understanding is promoted so that inclusion is capable of being celebrated.
  • Corporate Programs: We aim for our reach to expand to the business sector as well. To achieve this, Inclusion presentations and training sessions are provided so that more inclusive workspaces can be created by companies. Each organization’s needs are taken into consideration with these programs. A culture of respect and acceptance among employees is promoted by these programs.

During our 2019 annual President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) Symposium, Meg gave an impressionable presentation titled “What You Think of Me is None of My Business: Embracing Your Superpower” which embodied our theme of PCCW Celebrates One Cornell: Diversity and Inclusion.” Not only was Meg’s presentation insightful, thoughtful and impactful, but she captivated the audience. Sharing stories about those who go through life with visible and invisible differences made us aware that we all face difficulties and challenges in many ways, but together, through education and awareness, we can be compassionate, loving and caring to everyone, no matter the trials and tribulations ahead.
