A Belonging Program

The advancement of empathy-based workshop for schools lies at the heart of DHIFI’s mission. Our aim is to teach young minds how to process their emotions, set constructive goals, demonstrate empathy, cultivate meaningful relationships, and make responsible choices. We amplify SEL’s impact at DHIFI by encouraging learners to celebrate their individualism, supported by offerings for education that concentrate on growing SEL’s reach, inspiring students to feel pride when it comes to their uniqueness, supported by initiatives that include:

  • Narrative exchange: Students bolster their self-confidence and dismantle social obstacles that typically produce bullying, by sharing their own life stories.
  • Emphasizing the things that make us unique: We teach that differences are strengths to be valued, not deficits.

Championing self-acceptance and the acceptance of others, encouraging respect for various backgrounds, and ensuring a feeling of belonging for everyone, no matter their individuality, are integral parts of our objective.

Emotional Support Program

During our 2019 annual President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) Symposium, Meg gave an impressionable presentation titled “What You Think of Me is None of My Business: Embracing Your Superpower” which embodied our theme of PCCW Celebrates One Cornell: Diversity and Inclusion.” Not only was Meg’s presentation insightful, thoughtful and impactful, but she captivated the audience. Sharing stories about those who go through life with visible and invisible differences made us aware that we all face difficulties and challenges in many ways, but together, through education and awareness, we can be compassionate, loving and caring to everyone, no matter the trials and tribulations ahead.
