A SEL Program

Core to the mission at DHIFI is the advancement of inclusion workshop for educators. We strive to teach young minds how to navigate their emotions, come up with constructive goals, express empathy, make responsible decisions and forge meaningful relationships. We amplify SEL’s impact at DHIFI by urging learners to be proud of the things that make them unique, sustained by educational offerings that emphasize expanding SEL’s reach, inspiring students to take pride in their uniqueness, supported by endeavors that include:

  • Story sharing: By sharing their personal experiences, students achieve confidence and address the barriers that many times result in bullying.
  • Showcasing uniqueness: Our teachings confirm that one of a kind characteristics are valuable assets, not disadvantages.

We champion the acceptance of oneself and others and promote respect for individuals from different walks of life, ensuring everyone knows they have a place, regardless of their differences.

This program is designed to help kids and teens build self-confidence, empathy and healthy relationship skills.

During our 2019 annual President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) Symposium, Meg gave an impressionable presentation titled “What You Think of Me is None of My Business: Embracing Your Superpower” which embodied our theme of PCCW Celebrates One Cornell: Diversity and Inclusion.” Not only was Meg’s presentation insightful, thoughtful and impactful, but she captivated the audience. Sharing stories about those who go through life with visible and invisible differences made us aware that we all face difficulties and challenges in many ways, but together, through education and awareness, we can be compassionate, loving and caring to everyone, no matter the trials and tribulations ahead.
