The vision of DHIFI is a society that does not just acknowledge but celebrates each child’s individuality actively. Our mission is to give children and adolescents the confidence they need to embrace their individuality and stand proudly with confidence. Our endeavors are essential in helping young people grow into individuals who are confident and compassionate. We provide a inclusion of programs for schools, universities, communities, and corporate settings to this end.

Inclusion Programs

Core to the mission at DHIFI is the promotion of a social emotional learning curriculum for students. We strive to teach young minds how to navigate their emotions, come up with constructive goals, express empathy, cultivate meaningful relationships, and make better decisions. We amplify the impact of SEL at DHIFI by urging learners to be proud of the things that make them unique, supported by educational offerings that emphasize increasing SEL’s reach, inspiring students to feel pride when it comes to their uniqueness, supported by endeavors that include:

  • Sharing narratives: Encouraging students to share their stories builds their self-esteem and breaks down the societal constructs that regularly result in bullying.
  • Emphasizing uniqueness: We teach that differences are assets to be proud of, not deficits.

Included in our mission, we endorse for self-acceptance and the acceptance of others, cultivate respect for people from diverse backgrounds, and ensure everybody feels they belong, regardless of their differences.

SEL Activities For Students

An online interactive platform for acceptance activities for kids , Project Flaunt is additionally an initiative of Don’t Hide It Flaunt It. Our belief is that students are capable of being empowered and learn to accept themselves by fostering more inclusive environments and celebrating our differences. Building confidence and empathy among peers is the goal of this initiative, which is capable of being achieved by encouraging students to flaunt their unique qualities and experiences. The program offers various activities and resources designed to integrate into school curricula, emphasizing inclusion and social-emotional learning (SEL). Meg and her husband, both with a unique genetic condition impacting their limbs, have three children, with two of them having inherited the condition, creating a family deeply attuned to the importance of coming to terms with visible differences. This program is designed to help kids and teens build self-confidence, empathy and healthy relationship skills.

We work with community organizations, summer camps, faith-based organizations, and other non-profits.

During our 2019 annual President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) Symposium, Meg gave an impressionable presentation titled “What You Think of Me is None of My Business: Embracing Your Superpower” which embodied our theme of PCCW Celebrates One Cornell: Diversity and Inclusion.” Not only was Meg’s presentation insightful, thoughtful and impactful, but she captivated the audience. Sharing stories about those who go through life with visible and invisible differences made us aware that we all face difficulties and challenges in many ways, but together, through education and awareness, we can be compassionate, loving and caring to everyone, no matter the trials and tribulations ahead.
