Promoting SEL programs for educators to encourage tolerance and acceptance is our mission at DHIFI. DHIFI’s vision is a community that doesn’t merely acknowledge but actively celebrates every child’s unique qualities. We strive to teach young minds the ways to process their emotions, set constructive goals, express empathy, make responsible choices and forge meaningful relationships. We magnify SEL’s impact at DHIFI by encouraging learners to be proud of their individualism, supported by offerings for education that concentrate on growing SEL’s reach, encouraging students to feel pride when it comes to their individuality, supported by initiatives that include:

  • Sharing narratives: Motivating individuals to share their stories strengthens their self-esteem and breaks down the societal constructs that frequently cause bullying.
  • Accentuating individuality: We educate students that their diverse characteristics are merits rather than inadequacies.

Championing the acceptance of one’s self and the acceptance of others, encouraging regard for diverse backgrounds, and guaranteeing a sense of belonging for everyone, regardless of their uniqueness, are integral parts of our mission.

Disability Acceptance Activities For Schools

This program is designed to help kids and teens build self-confidence, empathy and healthy relationship skills.

During our 2019 annual President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) Symposium, Meg gave an impressionable presentation titled “What You Think of Me is None of My Business: Embracing Your Superpower” which embodied our theme of PCCW Celebrates One Cornell: Diversity and Inclusion.” Not only was Meg’s presentation insightful, thoughtful and impactful, but she captivated the audience. Sharing stories about those who go through life with visible and invisible differences made us aware that we all face difficulties and challenges in many ways, but together, through education and awareness, we can be compassionate, loving and caring to everyone, no matter the trials and tribulations ahead.
