DHIFI brings awareness to the importance of celebrating differences through school programs, online activities, public events, social media campaigns, and partnerships with corporate entities and celebrities. We invite “flaunters” of all ages to share with us their visible and/or invisible difference(s) through our programming and social media.
DHIFI History
Don’t Hide It, Flaunt It was founded by Meg Zucker, who is the President of DHIFI and the author of Born Extraordinary: Empowering Children with Differences and Disabilities. Meg is a well-established advocate for disabilities, both visible and invisible, with significant writing and public speaking expertise focusing on those topics. She is also a lawyer with more than twenty-five years of experience in the field of anti-money laundering and financial crime. To learn more about Meg, visit her website www.megzucker.com
Meg was born with Ectrodactyly, a genetic condition resulting in her having shortened forearms, one finger on each hand and one toe on each foot which she passed on to two of her three children. When her oldest son was bullied on the playground in elementary school because of his physical difference, Meg was inspired to start DHIFI to empower and teach all kids the importance of empathy and acceptance. DHIFI’s programs help kids to unite because of their differences, not despite them, and celebrate each other.
DHIFI’s initial flagship program, Kids Flaunt, is a curriculum that has reached hundreds of thousands of teachers and students nationwide and was developed by Meg in collaboration with leading educators and child psychologists. Kids Flaunt includes a social-emotional learning (SEL) lesson plan, reading passage about differences and art and / or writing activities based on DHIFI’s theme, “The things that make me different make me, me.”
Today, DHIFI not only offers its Flaunt It programming and assemblies for youth in and outside the classroom, but also provides inclusion and belonging programming that is customized for people of all ages, whether in corporate or community environments.
