We strive to make a real difference in the lives of students by providing inclusivity initiatives for educators. Students are able to become better at handle emotions, develop healthy relationships, and make thoughtful decisions with our social-emotional learning, or SEL activities. We know how important it is for students to get to know one another beyond the surface. One of the best ways to do that is by giving them the support they need to share their personal stories. At Don’t Hide It, Flaunt It, we stress using storytelling as a way for students to connect, allowing them to view the world through the eyes of another. This is an example of the true power of empathy-based initiatives.

SEL Activities

DHIFI knows how important it is to empower children with disabilities, which is why we’re a proponent of empathy-based curriculum for the workplace and SEL activities for elementary school . For children with special needs, it is vital for their development, self-esteem, and sense of belonging to feel empowered. When young people are offered the chance to display their unique talents and recognized for their individual strengths, they receive this empowerment. She has grown to embrace her differences, being born with a genetic condition known as ectrodactyly. Helping others do the same is something she has dedicated her life to. She has had a legal career that has covered decades and has dedicated herself personally to fostering compassion and acceptance wherever and whenever possible. These experiences have enabled her empower people to celebrate the things that make them unique. Her dream and leadership consistently inspire children and adults alike to be true to themselves and celebrate what makes them special.

Acceptance Activities For Families

An online interactive platform for SEL activity ideas middle school , Project Flaunt is also an initiative of Don’t Hide It Flaunt It. Participants can submit stories, artwork, or photos that reflect their individuality through the Project Flaunt Hub. We foster a safe space for celebrating the things that make them unique and give them the opportunity to encourage others while they’re at it. This program is designed to help kids and teens build self-confidence, empathy and healthy relationship skills.

We work with community organizations, summer camps, faith-based organizations, and other non-profits.

During our 2019 annual President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) Symposium, Meg gave an impressionable presentation titled “What You Think of Me is None of My Business: Embracing Your Superpower” which embodied our theme of PCCW Celebrates One Cornell: Diversity and Inclusion.” Not only was Meg’s presentation insightful, thoughtful and impactful, but she captivated the audience. Sharing stories about those who go through life with visible and invisible differences made us aware that we all face difficulties and challenges in many ways, but together, through education and awareness, we can be compassionate, loving and caring to everyone, no matter the trials and tribulations ahead.
